For the past 2 decades the ZWB has played over 200 shows a year, from every honky-tonk bar to some of the biggest stages in Texas and beyond. This New Braunfels based band has seen and done it all through the years, from supporting some of their musical heroes, like Willie Nelson and the late Leon Russell, to headlining their own tours. Through it all, the Zack Walther Band has become a constant in an ever-changing world we call the Music Business.
If asked to put the Zack Walther band into one genre, it would have to be Country, (the band would say Americana), but they are so much more than that. Over the past 20 years, the Zack Walther Band has released more than a dozen albums including 3 live records and in Christmas 2023 they released their first full length Christmas album, “Home for the Holidays.” The band was signed to Universal Records for their first two studio albums but have since released every record independently. Clearly it is this “post-record label era” where the band has found its true voice that really sets them apart. With songs like “What Kind of Man” and “Flowers on My Grave”, it is obvious that the band is much more than “Country” because they have deep roots in Blues, Rock, Gospel and Soul. The Zack Walther Band blazes their own path instead of following the trends.
As a live band, ZWB is truly unique and unforgettable. At its core, the band is a lean-mean power trio, but sometimes features a fiddle, piano, or horns. At the center of it all are the powerful vocals and impactful lyrics sung by front man Zack Walther. To quote his mentor and country legend singer-songwriter, Rodney Crowell, “Zack, you have a million dollar voice.”
Zack’s childhood friend and long-time musical partner, Matthew Briggs, who could easily be considered a mad scientist, plays an instrument that the guys in the band have come to name “the Kraken.” By his own design, this rig allows Matthew to play drums, guitar, piano and sing, all at the same time. The power trio is rounded out by bassist Corey Shetler, who has been part of the band for the last seven years. It is truly remarkable what a great sound can be made by the just the three guys. After all the albums, 25 years of touring and all the miles between shows, the Zack Walther Band remains passionate about their music and committed to their craft of putting on their best show for their fans every time they step on stage.
Adriana Live has performed for over a decade all over Texas with a high-energy show built for any venue and any crowd. Music for Everyone is the moto, and they live up to it, LIVE.
History:Time after time, the band packed Cheatham Street Warehouse in San Marcos, Texas, becoming one of the college town’s favorite bands. In 1975 Gruene Hall wasn’t even on anyone’s radar. That year, Joe Bob’s Bar and Grill Band built a huge following that consistently packed the old dance hall at least once a month. For a long period of time, the band held the attendance record at Gruene Hall. The bands publicity photo still hangs on the front wall in the hall. From 1974 until 1988 Joe Bob’s Bar & Grill Band played great country music in all the well known halls and venues all over the state. Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth, The Melody Ranch in Waco, The Crystal Chandelier in New Braunfels, The Too Bitter in San Marcos, Hubert’s Dance Land in Kingsville, The Skate Skellar in San Marcos,Soap Creek Saloon, The Split Rail, Rome Inn, Country Palace, Alliance Wagonyard, Steamboat, all in Austin, K of C halls,VFWs,American Legions, SPJST halls, and of course, Gruene Hall and Cheatham Street Warehouse. Along with their own dances and concerts, the band played arena shows opening for names like Ricky Skaggs, The Judds, George Strait and more. The list of performances and venues is endless. The point is, these guys know what they’re doing and know how to entertain an audience.Present:They’ve been there and now they’re back… as a rowdy country trio. Currently performing at well established venues such as Luckenbach, Sengelmann Hall, Gruene Grove, Railhouse Bar, and many many more, they are brang’n the twang’n to a stage near you, soon! On bass and vocals is Josh Burris. Josh has worked with several bands over his career including Chickenfist, Big Square Sun, and, more recently, The Hot Attacks and the J&B Duo. He has appeared on national television on everything from the Porter Wagoner Show to Austin City Limits. From 1987 to 1997 he was music director for Arista recording artist Joel Nava and the Border. These 3 guys have over 100 years combined experience in live music. It was in his family’s home town of George West where he discovered the buzzing Texas Music Scene. During his senior year at George West Highschool he discovered his ability to sing and as a graduation gift he acquired a guitar from a good friend. Within a year he had already written his first song and within another year he was playing small events around George West. Over the next few years his vocal and playing abilities sharpened as did his knowledge and love for Country Music. He began paying his way into studios to record acoustic tracks. Four years after picking up the guitar, he came into contact with a local producer and went back into the studio to record his first album “Texas Most Wanted”. This project would get the attention of several radio stations across Texas including Kicker 106 in the same town he was born in; Beeville Texas. Since then he has released another original single “ Threw Away” and has made plans to release more in the coming future. His straight-line country tunes can be enjoyed by anyone with an ear for good country music.
